MISO is simplifying its Max Generation Event Steps to create clearer alignment with NERC Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) levels. This update reduces procedural complexity and streamlines operations during capacity emergencies.
The changes are restructured but do not fundamentally alter the operational expectations for members. The actions required during capacity events remain the same; only the organization and presentation of the steps are changing.
MISO will consolidate the existing five-step Max Generation structure into three steps and remove the Maximum Generation Alert. Specific structural changes include:

- Moving Step 1a from Event Step 1 to Max Gen Warning
- Merging Steps 3 and 4 into Step 2
- Renaming the current Step 5 to Step 3
