Yes, the development team is working on making the Operator Interface sound for declarations and messages different.
Will MISO still send emails for declarations?
Yes, MISO will send emails for all Operator Interface users for declarations and emails to users if they are recipient of a message.
Operator Interface will not contain start/stop instructions?
Correct, the MISO Communication System (MCS) will continue to house the Generator Start/Stop screen as a backup means of Resource Start/Stop Notifications, but plans are being made for them to be moved in a future phase.
Will System Operating Limit (SOL) communications between MISO and TOs be included in the MCS upgrade?
No, it will not contact SOL instructions. A different team is working on FERC Order 881 regarding the primary and backup means of submitting rating information to MISO from TOs. These discussions are currently happening in the RSC and ROWG.
Will the end-user be able to go into preferences and turn some types of messages off?
No, all messages will be delivered if the end-user is a recipient of the message.

Yes, our development team will be working on that.
Do we still have to acknowledge a message if it does not apply to us?
Correct, if MISO is sending a high alert message. at least one person with your NERC ID will need to respond to it by reading the message. For a declaration, a member from the organization will need to acknowledge the declaration.
Can MISO provide a list of messages/declarations we have to acknowledge?
Yes. Those will be provided at a later date.
I can hear sound on my computer and see the visual alerts, but do not hear the audible alert in Operator Interface?
Check that Chrome/Edge/Firefox browser tab is not muted. (Right-click on the tab and make sure that "Mute Site/Tab" is not selected.
Some browsers will block audio on sites if the user has not interacted on the tab with a click/tap/etc. Click on the blank part of the screen, where there are no buttons or links. The sound should then trigger on the next interval.
How will my own company's 3rd party tool/application adjust to the change from MCS to OI for declarations?
MISO does not manage external applications or third-party tools that leverages the MCS as a data source. MISO Members who have applications that utilize MCS as a data source are encouraged to test their applications in the Operator Interface CCE environment and update their applications as necessary to be ready for the change in January 2024.
