We appreciate when customers provide input regarding constraints and congestion planning and we do take a close look at inquiries for any anomalies or breakdowns in the process. After correcting for any issues, we stick to our process of limit setting using the best available data at our disposal at that point in time. Day Ahead does attempt to align with Real-time, but there will always be discrepancies due to the following:
(1) DA uses slightly different inputs than RT (i.e. – demand bids vs. load forecasts & virtual transactions)
(2) DA model differs from RT conditions – this can be the result of unplanned outages, limited visibility to external systems, etc.
(3) DA does not target RT flows (or shadow prices), instead it is targeting Firm Flow Entitlements (for Market to Market constraints)
